Surprised to see all the negative reviews - we must have lucked out! Absolutely loved our very generous seafood platter and found it really good value between our group of 3. Service was slow, but overall we really enjoyed the delicious seafood right by the water's edge.
It's only eatery on Cockatoo Island, so during several visits the decent burgers were very welcome. Drinks were limited but they are licensed. Given the cafe is near the ferry wharf I would plan a visit to the island around the opening times so you don't have to walk back and forth. Only downside was the service which was very slow and they probably wouldn't be able to cope with big crowds. The location for this entry should be Cockatoo Island, not Drummoyne.
Came for a leisurely Easter Monday lunch. The gf said it was the best seafood basket she’d ever had. Based on our experience (during peak period) if you didn’t have a good experience, it’s not the venue, the food, the staff, or the Easter Bunny, it’s you. Be polite, patient, humble, treat the staff like human beings, line up like everyone else… and you’ll have yourself a lovely time. If you’re after a venue that’ll reward entitled & arrogant douche-baggery, prepare to be disappointed. Bravo Societe Overboard, we’ll be back.
